Ian Fair BMus(Hons)

 

Ian was born in 1985, Ian began learning the violin at the age of six. In 2000 he won a place at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama Junior Academy where he studied with Lise Aferiat and Rebecca Rathbone. During this period Ian completed concert tours to Hungary and Germany including performing as part of the BBC Proms with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland.

In 2003 Ian commenced the undergraduate course at the Royal Northern College of Music where he studies with Thomas Kemp. It was here that he took up the viola and is currently in his fourth and final year.

As well as performing in numerous college ensembles, for the past five years Ian has been a member of Camerata Scotland with whom he has toured throughout Europe. He also plays with the Glasgow based Telemann ensemble and has played in orchestras recording for BBC Radio 3, Radio Scotland and for the NMC label.
