Elizabeth Carlyle BMus(Hons) MMus perf

 

Beth was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1983 and started playing the cello at the age of eight. In 1997 she commenced her studies with Nelson Cooke, head of cello at the University of Melbourne completing her Bachelor of Music degree in 2004. Whilst in Australia, Beth has performed with the Australian Youth Orchestra, The Australian Classical Players and The Chamber Strings of Melbourne. She has toured Europe, Canada, America and Australia as a soloist and chamber musician playing both cello and oboe.

In 2004 Beth was awarded an RNCM major entrance scholarship and the RNCM Overseas Governors Award to study for a Masters in Music Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music, graduating in 2005 with Merit. Beth performed as a soloist in the Lake District Summer Music Festival in 2005 and has had masterclasses with Franz Helmerson and Eduardo Vassalo. During her time at college received Beth's quartet won the Bochmann Bursary for Chamber Music. Since graduation, Beth has been a freelance musician with chamber, solo and orchestral commitments, including work with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
